We are seeking an individual to serve as a UI/UX Designer in our Toronto office. Reporting to the Director, Architecture, the UI/UX Designer will conceive, design and prototype useful, usable, and compelling user experiences and user interfaces for web and mobile applications. The ideal candidate has a strong portfolio of interface design that is clear and professional. They will be active in the tech/design community and are always looking to chart new creative territory.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver world-class user interface designs and guide implementation from concept through to launch.
• Design for a variety of platforms including smartphones, tablets and web browsers.
• Produce designs to help the entire product team understand the desired customer experience: storyboards, flows, wireframes and prototypes.
• Guide usability testing for prototypes. Quickly collect and decipher feedback for rapid iteration of the product design.
• Develop and document UI Design standards based on technical requirements, marketing requirements, and industry best practices.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• University Degree or College Diploma in related discipline.
• Practical experience creating and maintaining user interface and user experience designs for consumer class web and mobile applications.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, HTML5, Javascript.
• Must have experience in developing mobile applications (experience with the Windows, iOS, and Android platforms will be a significant advantage).
• Up-to-date knowledge on user interface guidelines for small and large devices, and knowledgeable about best practices for touch screen devices.
• Experience with Responsive Web Design, specifically designing, implementing, & testing applications for multiple browsers and mobile devices (iOS/Android/Windows based).
• Ability to quickly visualize concepts through sketching or other rapid prototyping methods.
• Create and effectively present UX deliverables (wireframes, workflows, paper prototypes, etc.) to explain and negotiate design solutions to key stakeholders.
• Experience working with and establishing design guidelines.
• Experience with user-centric design research methodology including but not limited to user ethnography, user testing, and optimal customer interactions.
• Flexible, able to take direction, adapt/adjust to changes and shifting priorities.
• Must be detail-oriented and well organized.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working in a team environment and collaborating with stakeholders.
• Self-motivated and highly organized with a strong work ethic and a fine eye for the details.
• ASP.NET, C#, TFS and Visual Studio experience is a plus.
• Designing for Accessibility including knowledge of WCAG standards is preferred.
• Bilingual French/ English would be considered an asset.
