Scribendi, a leading online language services company, seeks an ambitious System Administrator to join our expanding IT team. At Scribendi, you will participate in mission-critical projects and join a small group of forward-thinking administrators and developers working in an agile environment. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our infrastructure and computer systems, and you must ensure high availability of all critical systems and network infrastructure using the latest best practices.

You will work with cutting-edge technologies, learn how they are applied in the ecommerce sector, and collaborate extensively with stakeholders and the development team to achieve ambitious goals. This role is for a self-starter with strong hardware/software troubleshooting abilities, good communication skills, a good work ethic, and the desire to ensure that our infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

Who you are (Required):
- BSc/BAInformation Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator [MCSA]) is a plus
- Experience working with Windows Server 2012 r2, Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu), Active Directory, Exchange, and VMware
- Experience with core server infrastructure (DNS, DHCP, AD, SNMP, IIS, etc.)
- Good understanding of security functions (proxies, firewalls, encryption, and certificates)
- Working knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery concepts
- Strong shell scripting skills
- Can work independently and in a group to manage a full scope of responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Possess resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
- Be able to respond to system events after hours, on a limited basis, if required
- Have a good sense of humor

Preferred Requirements:
- Can provide technical guidance and support to other members of the software development team
- Experience working with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience working with IT automation technologies such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and Vagrant

What you will do:
- Collaborate with development, operations, and support teams to optimize the operation and availability of internal and external systems
- Collaborate with team members to determine the root cause of problems and best practices for efficient resolution
- Monitor systems to ensure they are performing as expected and maintain performance metrics
- Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users
- Maintain and troubleshoot network performance issues and, when necessary, escalate to vendors
- Set up user accounts and workstations
- Provide IT support to local staff and systems
- Build technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
