We are currently looking for a Director, Architecture in our Windsor or Toronto office.
Reporting to the Vice President, Transformation and Architecture, the Director, IT Architecture will be responsible for overall Architecture leadership and oversight of IT. This includes development of blue prints, best practices, policies, technology plans, roadmaps, and support design and implementation of strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring a solid professional reputation and a minimum of 10-15 years of progressive IT leadership with a broad range of experience, ideally from high volume transaction-processing environments. He/She will also bring a broad range of technology capabilities and expertise including application development, quality assurance, systems integration, mobile and Internet platforms, emerging technologies, data analytics, CRM, Contact Center technologies, business process management, and change management.

• Provide leadership and oversight to the Architecture team including coaching, mentoring, and development and establishment of all enterprise architecture practices
• Lead the architecture and solution design of a large-scale transaction processing system that will leverage current or new technologies, as a shared services platform serving three separate business units.
• Evolve the technology vision and architecture with a particular focus on developing technology roadmaps, addressing both operational and strategic needs and ensuring project viability and strong alignment to business requirements.
• Responsible for the enterprise architecture governance process and planning and implementation of technology standards.
• Plan, develop, and work with IT peers to administer complex proof-of-concept and/or special projects related to strategic initiatives or technology advancements.
• Provide clear communications of architecture strategies across the organization.
• Lead the implementation of emerging technologies and concepts such as micro-services, Agile, cloud computing and SOA frameworks.
• Support the implementation of the Innovation program and initiatives.
• Work with external industry experts and vendors to leverage market capabilities.
• Identify the skills and resources, and process evolution, required to scale technology service and application development capabilities, particularly to support large-scale transformation and integration initiatives.

• Develop an enterprise mobile and web strategy and other emerging technologies into GSC’s business models.
• Advance the enterprise Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, and Contact Center Evolution strategies and roadmaps.

• 10-12 years’ experience leading in a large-scale complex IT architecture; particularly in the health benefits and/or insurance industry.
• University Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or equivalent, post-graduate studies considered an asset.
• Accomplished leader and team builder who inspires, motivates, develops, mentors and coaches to achieve results through an intrinsic collaborative approach.
• Experience developing business cases and presenting them to senior management for approval.
• Advanced knowledge and experience with enterprise-wide application technologies, emerging approaches, systems-oriented architecture and virtual systems.
• Experience with programming techniques, application development standards, SDLC best practices and Agile Software Development.
• Extensive systems modernization experience.
• Experience leading, facilitating and collaborating on IT strategic initiatives with both internal and external customers.
• Experience with significant cultural, organizational and business process change efforts.
• Be an agent of change, able to negotiate skillfully in demanding situations to reach consensus while respecting relationships.
• Superb relationship management and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence and facilitate solution development while working collaboratively with staff, consultants, executives and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to influence others in relation to new concepts or approaches, build consensus around these ideas and translate vision into action.
• Highly developed communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
• Excellent presentations skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Bilingual French/English would be considered an asset.
